Oh my gosh! I've got exciting news:
This week I talked to a producer working for Elizabeth Gilbert (of Eat, Pray, Love and Big Magic fame): I'm being considered as a guest on her Magic Lessons podcast! Ee!
I'm in awe that out of over 2000 applicants, my story was heard. That I was seen.
It's a remarkable kind of feeling, being seen. Whether it's a stranger, a reader, a potential client, or someone as famous-adjacent as Elizabeth Gilbert's producer – the fact that one heart can speak to another through the cold, cold, Internet will always feel like a tiny miracle to me.
Like, I said: It's a remarkable kind of feeling, and I believe it's one that EVERYONE deserves to experience. I want this feeling for you, and for your clients.
For you to have someone contact you through your blog or website and say, "I really resonated with your story, and I had to reach out", or "I saw myself in your words. Thank you."
For you to be able to infuse your online presence with your validation, passion, and hope. To be able to heal without even being physically present. I want that for you, so much.
But to be seen, you first need to get out of your own way.
I almost didn't apply to Elizabeth Gilbert's thing. I waited 'til the very last day, 2 hours before the application closed because I told myself, "No one's going to see you out of the thousands of applications. Don't waste your time."
In the end, I remembered this Wayne Gretzky quote:
"You miss 100% of the shots you never take."
How many times have I talked myself out of something because my animal mind told me I'd fail? Too many times.
So I got to writin'...and I'm SO glad I did.
Whether I get to be on the podcast or not (I find out if I made the cut sometime in the next week), this was an incredible a-ha for me. This experience was a big, hairy, impossible-to-ignore reminder not to anticipate rejection and let it psych me out.
My brand healing invitation for you this week: Take that shot. You might just make it. #tinymiracles
