Branding as Therapy

(+ Some Wise Words from Shel Silverstein)

The process of developing a meaningful brand is deep personal work:

  • We come up against perceived limitations, negative self-talk, doubt, anxiety, stress...
  • We worry about what we “should” and “shouldn’t” be doing...
  • We realize we have commitment issues when it comes to claiming our area of focus / niche...

As one of the brave healers mentioned in yesterday’s call, sometimes it feels like the process is shoving a bridle in your mouth and keeps pulling tighter and tighter…and tighter.

(Gah, what a visceral description!)

Why would anyone DO this to themselves?

All you coaches and therapists know that the hard work your clients come up against in coaching or therapy feel uncannily similar to this branding process. You know what is possible on the other side for your clients. Moving through the discomfort, keeping the hope alive, reflecting back golden nuggets every now and then is how YOU help people heal.

Moving through the discomfort, keeping the hope alive, and reflecting back the occasional golden nugget is how I help you heal your brand, too. :)

For today’s Brand-nanza resource, I leave you with a poem that I frequently refer to when I’m feeling afraid of standing out, being seen, and risking critical attention. It’s called, “Masks”.

“She had blue skin,
And so did he.
He kept it hid
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through,
Then passed right by-
And never knew.”

― Shel Silverstein

I hope this series has helped heal some of those fears, confusions, and negative scripts for you.

If this is just the beginning for you, and you're nervous and excited about possibly investing more time, energy, and hard-earned funds into doing deeper branding work, I encourage you to check out my Write Brave Workshops.

I'm booked through September with 1:1 clients, so this would be the only way we could work together before the fall. (Plus, the workshops costs less than half of what it would cost to hire me to write your content).

If the time is right, I'd love to walk alongside you, to be that consistent brand healing support to help you move through the hard stuff as you get clear and confident about your dream clients and why you're the one for them.

Here's to bravely showing your blue!
