Hi, I’m Nikki!
I’m a content-writer and graphic designer, but you might also call me:
- a brand midwife,
- a website whisperer,
- or a blog birther.
(I love bringing things into being.)
I help healers who long to feel confident about their websites, but never quite feel like their work is good enough. I guide them through the (sometimes challenging, but always cathartic) process of creating their brand, so that they can’t wait to share their work with the world!
I know from own branding journey (and from helping these brilliant business owners) that putting your words, your philosophies, or even your face online can conjure up some really powerful resistance. (Care to binge-watch mediocre sitcoms on Netflix instead of writing an About Page? Anyone?) I’d like to help you get through that so you can press “Publish” and get right back to serving your clients.
I believe that courageous healers will change the world. That’s why I hope you join the Write Brave Community today.
5 Brave Moments in My Life (in chronological order):
5. Asked Paul Garside to dance at a birthday party.
(I was 13 and hated my flat nose and black hair. Paul was gorgeous. We slow danced to Celine Dion).
4. Left home at 16 to go to college 10,754 miles away from my family.
(Yep. They lived in Mozambique and I shipped myself off to California. I was sure all the cool American kids would hate me.
3. Paddled out in double overhead waves on the North Shore of Maui.
(I got pummeled...but it still felt amazing!)
2. Married my best friend.
(When my parents separated, I began to think commitment was a joke. I'm infinitely grateful that I finally wised up.)
1. Quit my stable non-profit job to become a professional writer and musician.
(As Paul Drucker wisely said, "The best way to predict the future is to create it." Here's to creating our futures, to being brave and writing brave every day).
I'm passionate about donating to campaigns and causes that align with my personal values including organizations such as:
- The Town Kitchen (thetownkitchen.com)
- The National Economic and Social Right's Initiative (NESRI.org)
- The Audre Lorde Project (apl.org)
...and artists such as:
- Sea of Fog (facebook.com/SeaOfFogfilm)
- The Love and Laughter Project by Alyse Black (Kickstarter)
- Robyn Cage (Kickstarter)
I also facilitate free arts workshops at Edgewood's Support for Emerging Adults program. If you're a therapist or mentor in the SF Bay Area who would like to get involved, or if you're interested in learning more about this resource for young adults, you're welcome to contact me for more information. (To learn more about Edgewood, please visit their website at www.edgewood.org.)
Why give back?
As a former non-profit manager, I gave many years to working with young people that felt like the world had given up on them. Young men and women that had experienced trauma as children--and survived. Sometimes they did scary things, and as a result many people in their communities were afraid of them. I loved being around these kids, and even now as I type this I have to take a deep breath because of how much I want them to feel loved.
Leaving my day job was hard—of course I was scared of entering the unknown world of entrepreneurialism, but I also was struck with guilt. Was I being selfish for following my heart? I had my doubts, but deep down I knew that when I was an elder I would regret not following my heart to become a writer and run my own business. How could I tell the young people in my life to be themselves if I’d never given myself the chance?
Today I live a life that many might admire. I spend my days writing. I can road trip to LA for a week, then spend the rest of the month in Canada visiting my family if I want, and I don’t have to ask anyone to approve my timesheet. On the surface, I can fill my days with whatever I want and I have no one to answer to but myself. But the truth is I am still accountable to others: the people in my community, especially the ones who feel like they don’t belong.
To continue to serve them today, through arts workshops and through my donations, is a privilege.

Praise From Happy Clients
"This process brought me so much joy and excitement..."
"Having never worked with a copywriter I was unsure of the process. I was concerned that my message may be diluted or taken out of context. I did not want to compromise my message. Fortunately working with Nicole this was not an issue.
Nicole really listened and got behind my message and my story and my brand. Her enthusiasm is exactly what I want from team players. I felt very supported and understood by Nicole and am so grateful for her support in this process.
Nicole honored deadlines which is huge and stepped up to move fast to help me meet my own schedule. Her copy deck for my web developer was spot on - very clear, very detailed and gave him exactly what he needed.
I would absolutely recommend Nicole's copywriting services to any entrepreneur, business or organization who wants to get more clear on their message and how to convey their value and their story to the world. Nicole can help you get clear and focused so your message is relevant to your audience. She will follow up and make sure she's offering you value and delivering what you need. She is open to dialogue making it a very collaborative, creative and fun process. What seemed very stressful and overwhelming became a really empowering and rewarding experience.
This process brought me so much joy and excitement that a message that is so near and dear to my heart can finally be brought out into the world in a relatable way that makes sense, has context, heart and purpose. The end result is something that is authentic to me and also more powerful and relatable for my audience."
